As I was waiting to replace a friend on the board of directors for a non-profit medical clinic in the Houston area, I asked what was the electricity price that the clinic was paying. I learned that the clinic was paying default pricing. Default rates are notoriously high and can be replaced quickly with competitive options. In addition, the clinic was paying taxes on the electricity while tax-exempt.
Directed them to reputable energy broker and assisted in the selection of a new provider. The clinic signed a new two-year contract that reduced their electricity bills by 55%. Provided their tax-exempt certificate to lower their cash outlay and submitted documentation to recover taxes paid for prior 48 months.
Total Savings calculations are as follows:
Electricity Savings – 2-year contract 43,652
Savings – tax exempt savings on 2-year contract 6,185
Two-year contract savings 49,837
Recover tax paid in (2-year estimate) 2,371
Total savings 50,208
